Planning

Norton St Philip Parish Council has a responsibility to examine planning applications and appeals affecting the Parish and to comment on the application to the local planning authority.

The Parish Council is consulted on all parish planning applications. Any views expressed by the Parish Council will be taken into account by the planning authority before a decision is made, providing the points made are relevant to the determination of a planning application.

The final decision is made by the local planning authority, not by the Parish Council. Until April 2023, when the new unitary authority is formed, the Local Planning Authority (LPA) is Mendip District Council.

The Parish Council will only comment on what are known as 'material considerations'. Issues – such as, for example, boundary disputes between neighbours or loss of views – are not considered.
